Biography
Martin Metcalfe is a painter and musician, probably best known for his bands Goodbye Mr Mackenzie, Angelfish and The Filthy Tongues. He grew up in Bathgate, Scotland in the 1970’s.
At the time Bathgate was a rough industrial town which really had very few opportunities for people with an artistic nature.
He made his own opportunities at first with music throughout the 1990’s and then moved back to his first love, visual arts.
He is strongly influenced by Modernism and in particular German Expressionism & Outsider Art.
He has an image-book called SCENES available. SCENES is a series of paintings & drawings by Metcalfe & includes poetic commentaries from Japan-based British poet Paul Hullah.
